Abyssal Grin | Glow-in-the-Dark Skull Tentacle Wall Art

The tide withdrew farther than it should have, leaving a single relic tangled among the black rocks. At its centre grinned a skull polished smooth by the deep, while six curling limbs reached outward as though searching for the sea that had abandoned them. Harbour records called it the Abyssal Grin and warned that its pale markings gathered light during the day. After nightfall, those markings returned the stolen glow, revealing every tooth, spiral and twisting sucker-like pattern. Sailors claimed the relic marked safe passage through drowned ruins. None could explain why the ships that followed it always returned with one name missing from the crew list.

About this piece

The Abyssal Grin is a 3D printed glow-in-the-dark wall sculpture combining a grinning skull with six elaborate, curling tentacles.

The skull forms the centre of the design, framed by sweeping limbs covered in raised floral, spiral and organic patterns. Purple and pale filament create a vivid daytime contrast, while the luminous areas release a green afterglow after exposure to light. The result is an unusual statement piece with gothic, maritime-horror and dark-fantasy character.

Materials and finish

Made from purple PLA and glow-in-the-dark PLA using a multi-colour 3D printing process.

Each item is 3D printed with care. Fine layer lines and small colour variations are natural characteristics of the process, making every piece subtly unique.

Glow effect

Expose the luminous areas to a strong light source before viewing the piece in darkness. The glow will gradually fade and can be refreshed through further light exposure.

Brightness and duration will vary according to the strength of the light, exposure time and darkness of the room. The glow is produced by the filament itself and is not electrically powered.

• This is a decorative display piece and is not a toy.
• The reverse includes a hanging hole for a suitable wall screw.
• Removable double-sided adhesive mounting strips are included. Two strips are normally supplied, or three for larger or heavier pieces where required.
• A wall screw is not included.
• Apply adhesive strips only to a clean, dry and sound surface. Paint, wallpaper, surface condition and correct application can affect holding performance and clean removal.
